Session title: Managing, Monitoring, Tuning and Architecting a Db2 for z/OS DDF Workload

Session abstract: At a great many Db2 for z/OS sites, applications that utilize the distributed data facility (DDF) comprise the fastest-growing segment of the overall Db2 workload, and such applications are increasingly found to be the very largest workload component – bigger than CICS-Db2, bigger than IMS-Db2, bigger than batch-Db2. Data-as-a-Service: the REST Interface to Db2 for z/OS

Session title: Data-as-a-Service: the REST Interface to Db2 for z/OS

Session abstract: Non-DBMS-specific SQL interfaces such as JDBC and ODBC have been helpful for developers, enabling them to write code that accesses relational database management systems without having to customize that code for a specific relational DBMS; nowadays, however, a growing number of developers want a data-access interface that provides a still-higher level of abstraction with regard to the particulars of a specific data-serving platform. Session title: The zGui (r)evolution – First hands on experience and best practices

Session abstract: The evolution of the mainframe had a variety of GUI approaches, some lasted for a while, some never took off at all. However, it was never THE COMMON ecosystem used by all products and all vendors. At the 2018 SHARE, IBM, Rocket Software and CA Technologies announced ZOWE – THE z ecosystem to securely manage, control, script and develop. Of course, an announcement is probably not the final truth, but from what I’ve already seen and used I’m more than enthused.
